- Toronto Waterfront Marathon
The flat and fast features of this event (includes the marathon, half and 5k) have consistently been the reason for so many people reaching a personal best, qualifying for Boston, having a memorable but good first marathon or an outstanding one. Even power walkers or slower runners love this course because of its 6 hour 30 minute time limit.
The full and half marathon start in downtown Toronto on University Ave. just north of Adelaide St and finish in the heart of downtown at City Hall, on Bay St. just north of Queen St. They race course heads out and back along the lakeshore blvd on a flat course that makes for a fast Boston Qualifying course and one that beginners love.
There are bands and Neighbourhood Entertainment Centres every 2 km cheerleaders, and numerous aid stations. Overall, there's a great, festive atmosphere. All participants get tech tees and exciting finisher's medals designed by Hasty Awards, who developed the world's first "spinner" for Miami Marathon.
Toronto Waterfront Marathon, however, is much more than just run... it's a festive, full weekend that makes for a great race experience. For out-of-towners Toronto has so much to offer in the way of entertainment, dining, sports and sight seeing. Its a world class city that is easy to travel to and you get to run with world class elite athletes. The race is founded by race director Alan Brookes who takes incredible pride in putting on Toronto's premier marathon.
