Heidi & Vinnie tie the knot in Vegas at the Las Vegas Marathon!

Wishing you a lifetime of love and running happiness!

Congrats to our own Running Mom Cindy!  Baby Boy is finally here!

Running Bride Heidi and fiance Vinnie plan to tie the knot at the Las Vegas Marathon on December 2, 2007!
(Read their story below)
Vinnie Tripodi and I got engaged this past February.  Vinnie was going to wait for Valentine's Day to propose but couldn't wait.  So he proposed the night he got my ring back from being set at the shop.  I had been out of town for work.  And when I got home he proposed and then we went out for dinner and martinis.  After a few martinis he called my Dad and told him he proposed.  It was really funny.

For months we've been trying to decide where to have our wedding.  We knew we wanted to do something completely crazy and different.  We've been to sooo many weddings that they all feel the same.  And we wanted to do something that people would have fun and actually want to go to.  I was voting for the beach.  He voted for the mountains.  I joked and said we could compromise and meet in the desert.  He said that means Vegas.  And everyone wants to go to Vegas!!!  I looked at the Vegas websites and checked out their marathon out of runner's curiosity.  And saw that they pick so many couples to get married During the run.  He loved the idea.  We applied and were chosen.  Now Vinnie is training for his first full marathon.  We have over 35 people flying out there for the race/wedding.  It is on December 2nd.  It starts/finishes with the Blue Man Group kickoff at Mandalay Bay Resort.  You run 5 miles to the chapel.  Get married in front of friends/family and 50 Elvis' and the Running Reverand.  Then you finish the marathon.  It is going to be wild.

Good luck to Heidi & Vinnie (his first marathon) a the Vegas Marathon!

A vowel renewal in Vegas!  Michelle plans to renew her vows with hubby Brandon in Vegas this year.  We can't wait to see the blushing bride dashing toward the chapel in her white running skirt!  Read their story below!

The marathon wedding is cool for me cause it combines my two love - running and my man!  Brandon and I actually got married at a Special Memory Weddiing Chapel in Vegas in 2002.  This will be our 5 year anniversary and we wanted to renew our vows and have a more memorable ceremony.

Our first wedding was kinda of a spur of the moment decision.  We did not have alot of cash at the time, and planning a traditional wedding was very disheartening - we would probably be still trying to save up for it.  We also needed to buy a house and a new car - so we did the practical thing and drove out to Vegas and go married. Just the two of us.  No family, no reception, no honeymoon.  A few months later we bought a house with the money we had saved from not having our dream wedding.

I started running marathons a couple of years ago, and my husband, Brandon, has recently taken a liking to the sport as well.  We were looking for a full marathon to do together and Las Vegas seemed like a good one.  I heard about thier Run Through Chapel and that the ceremony would be taking place at A Special Memory Chapel.  The race is just three weeks after our five year anniversary.  I thought - this is it - my memorable wedding - who would ever forget this.  My hubby - will be the virgin groom -(marathon virgin that is).  We will go the distance together.  Our friends and family will be there this time, and we will have thousand of people at our "wedding party".   It is perfect.

Thank you guys so much for making my day even more special.  I will be looking great in my runaway bride outfit.  I will be sure to get lots of pictures!!!

Michelle

Running Skirts March across the Gobi Desert!

Team Canada
(Donna Carrigan, Donald Peterson and Rob Mackay)

is raising funds and awareness for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation by running across China’s Gobi Desert in a race called the Gobi March.

Donna Carrigan, the only female member of Team Canada, will be running this race in style sporting our Running Skirts.

Talk about training commitment!  skirt (in black aqua on Donna Carrigan)

Go Donna!
The Gobi March is a self-supported footrace across 150 miles (250 kilometers) of the Gobi Desert in China . The race consists of six stages, lasting 7 days, with distances ranging from 10 to 50 miles (20 - 80 kilometers) per stage. Competitors are required to be fully self-supported throughout the event and must carry all their own food, gear and clothing which they will need to complete the 150 mile (250 kilometer) course. The Gobi March is held annually in honor of three great women -- Mildred Cable and Eva and Francesca French - who crossed the Gobi Desert one hundred years ago. Approximately 15% of competitors will be women.

"Comfort will be paramount in this race.  I'm thrilled that not only will I be comfortable - I'll look good while I race!

Who says you can't look good and be comfortable while you cross the desert?"

says Donna training in her hometown Victoria, BC

This weekend....ING NYC Marathon!

This year you can watch the "LanceCam" follow Lance Armstrong as he runs his first ever New York City Marathon 2006.  Rumor has it, other celebrities are running this years event (hmm odds are good they may be Matthew McConaughey and Jake Gyllenhaal).  As if getting into the NYC Marathon lottery isn't tough enough!  With attractions like these, everyones gonna want to run it now.  It is by far the best Marathon crowd in the greatest city!

For $4.99 fans can watch the Lance run the entire marathon from the start on Staten Island, through the burroughs of Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and finally into Manhattan for the famous Central Park finish.

There's been a lot of buzz about how fast Lance will marathon.  According to a recent update by seven time Tour de France Champion himself, he's only trained up to 16 miles for his long run, but has been running workouts of ten 6 minute miles.  Sounds like he's right on target for a 3 hour marathon if things go well.  Lance has been dealing with shin pain and other "frustrating injuries".  Welcome to marathon running Lance!
